News from Sarah

Happy Spring!  I am certainly enjoying the return of sunshine and hope your adjustment to Daylight Savings has gone smoothly. Isn't that extra hour of daylight in the evenings amazing?

Sometimes in real estate I have 'one of those days' that makes me appreciate the serendipity of living in the Bay Area.
I was blowing bubbles and feeding the ducks with my niece by Lake Merritt recently and spotted this unique car parked lakeside.

Pretty distinct, isn't it?
You may recognize the style as an homage to the painter Piet Mondrian, one of the founders the Dutch modern art movement De Stijl. Mondrian's recognizable style utilizes only the three primary colors, the three primary values (black, white and gray), and the two primary directions (horizontal and vertical).
The sighting of a unique paint job in Oakland isn't necessarily a story in and of itself, but can you believe that later that day I came across this house while on tour in the city?

Known as the 'Mondrian House', this beauty overlooks the waves crashing on Ocean Beach in San Francisco.
While chatting with the listing agent and sharing this fun coincidence the story came full circle. I grabbed my phone to show him the photo I had taken earlier that day (above) and he surprised me with this post.

The owners of the car also know about this home and @7x7bayarea has Instagram proof.

I love unique Bay Area real estate gems!  Whatever you are looking for, from Insta-famous to fixer-upper, my team is here to help you navigate the decision-making process.

And for those of you who are looking for a family-friendly outing, every Friday the Oakland Museum hosts a wonderful gathering of amazing food vendors, featured artists, music and even dance lessons.  They also allow after-hours access to their incredible gallery!

Spring Cleaning

With the amount of rain that California's winter brought us this year, there are a few home maintenance items that should be tackled to make sure any issues are caught before they become a high-stress or higher-cost problem.
  • Check your gutters and clear them of any debris. Make sure your downspouts are pointed away from the house.
  • Check under your home for evidence of water intrusion and check your foundation for any cracks or movement. If you see any areas of concern call a professional immediately. We are always here to help you find the right contractor.  Don't hesitate to let us help you strategize!
  • Check all decks, patios, porches, window sills, stairs, and railings for water saturation and deterioration.
Giving back!!!

If you want to go the extra mile in your community when it rains, you can sign up for Oakland's Adopt a Storm Drain program. By keeping storm drain inlets clear, you can help maintain water quality and prevent flooding during storms.
As always, our team is here to be your real estate resource.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need us!

All the best,
