I've been thinking a lot recently about the various factors we all weigh when deciding where to live. One significant factor that may not be at the top of your list of housing priorities, but what actually drives a lot of where we choose to live geographically is commute time. The number of options and the ease of accessibility we now have to get from point A to point B has dramatically increased over the past decade. Rather than hop in our car, we now have many options: ride-share, bike-share, BART, bus, muni, or my new favorite, The Scooter!
When I first started sharing with people that I have been regularly scooting around town I encountered some skepticism. Some of it is definitely warranted as there are still kinks being worked out.
Even if you have not yet heard the term micro-mobility, if you live in the Bay Area I imagine you have seen evidence of this latest transportation trend. From Bird to Lime to Spin, according to this article the
e-scooter industry is the fastesttechnological adoption in history.
All these options are shifting our urban landscape and where we may choose to live in the future. For many, scooters may be a relatively inexpensive and extremely fun way to bridge the first or "last mile" of your journey. It's amazing how many people already use scooters as an integral component in their daily commute and to think they may have otherwise driven the entire distance without this option!
Find an e-scooter when you need it and leave it almost anywhere that is safe and convenient. If you are worried about safety, Bird sent me a FREE helmet!
Happy New Homeowners!
Searching for the perfect home in today's market can be competitive. This determined young couple was up for the challenge. They were eager to take advantage of the interest rate plunge and were ready to be strategic.
After coming very close on a few homes, but ultimately getting beat by offers with better terms I suggested they get fully underwritten. Their next offer was accepted! I'm so excited for them and Baxter loves his new yard. Congrats!

Visit Jack London Square
I had an amazing dinner recently at Farmhouse Kitchen Thai! A sister restaurant to Daughter Thai in Montclair, the outdoor seating at Farmhouse overlooks the docks of the bay. The artistic decor, the creative cocktails, and the absolutely delicious cuisine make this one of my favorite new spots. Let me know if you go!
The 2019 Jack London Square Art & Wine Festival is less than a month away! I have been to this fun event in years past. Tickets are $40-$80 and a portion of the tasting ticket proceeds will benefit The Oakland Lions Club.
With the season of sunshine upon us, plank is a wonderful place to meet friends or coworkers for a friendly game of bocce or you can entertain the whole family with the arcade, bowling or billiards! Try one of their 40+ selected brews out on the 15,000 sq. ft of outdoor space. Enjoy their firepits and picnic-style seating overlooking the bay.
Chat about Finished Concrete Flooring
Renovations on my new office space are underway and I want to share one of the design choices I recently made. I had been looking at various flooring options that would work well with the existing concrete slab. When someone suggested that I epoxy the concrete floors and leave them in a more natural state it all came together! We have one section completed and I couldn't be happier.
Here is a Houzz article discussing the utility and affordability of poured concrete floors compared to other flooring options. The upfront cost was fairly comparable to my other flooring estimates due to the labor necessary to fill, sand, and finish the floors. I'm hopeful they will last a very long time!
